Shahid patches up with mom

There have been many stories on why Shahid Kapoor has been hesitating to give the go-ahead for his mother Neelima Azim’s debut directorial venture.

Here’s the real reason: Shahid was never the same with his mother ever since she married Raza Ali Khan four years ago.

However, the situation is now changing. The mother and son are mending bridges. A few weeks ago, Shahid went over to his mother’s house and had a long discussion with her and Raza.
A source close to Shahid and Neelima tells us, "Shahid was not comfortable when Neelima informed him that she was marrying Raza. He had strong reservations about the marriage and he told his mother about it. He told her that she should take some time before taking the plunge. However, Neelima had her own reasons to not delay the marriage."

"After Neelima’s marriage, Neelima and Shahid began moving apart emotionally. Shahid used to visit her, but the visits became fewer and far in between. However, it seems to be a case of ‘all’s well that ends well’ now. Some time back, Shahid and Raza met to try and break the ice and are on better terms now. It is not easy for Raza too, so both Shahid and Raza have to make a lot of effort in the days to come," our source adds.

When contacted, Neelima said, "Well, Shahid had his point of view and I had mine. It’s okay. Things are falling in place now. After all, I am his mother."

Buzz is that Neelima plans to cast Govinda, Shahid and Amrita Rao in the main roles in her film. Shahid will soon go through the script and give his reply by end of this month.
Shahid’s parents, Neelima Azim and Pankaj Kapur separated when Shahid was only three, and Neelima brought him up single-handedly. Pankaj went on to marry Supriya Pathak.

Saif is the ‘driving force’

We know how Saif loves playing driver driver, (we mean chauffeur) to Kareena Kapoor. He drops her and fetches her from all events, parties ect etc. And is always her at her beck And call whenever she calls for him.

Call it joru ka ghulam or pyar, whatever it may be suitable. At the award function, too, he was heard instructing his driver: Meri gaadi, Kareena, Akshay, Shah Rukh ki gaadi, sab Gate no. 1 pe chahiye.

Abhi! Looks like there were dinner plans in the offing. And Saif was the ‘driver’.of the plan, we mean! It was another thing that Saifoo lingered on post the award ceremony to bond with Karisma and her hubby Sanjay Kapur.

My career is now taking off: Tanishaa

She has the right looks, a great body and the perfect connections in the film industry. Yet a big hit still eludes Tanishaa. To top it all she has had a bad run with her co-stars recently.

She tells NT what went wrong between her, Esha Deol and Sameera Reddy on the sets of Kumar Mangat's film 123.

Catfight on the sets

The latest gossip making rounds in the film circle is that Tanishaa is not getting along well with her co-stars Esha Deol and Sameera Reddy, and that she recently broke down on the sets leaving everyone shocked.

Coax her to speak on it, and after a brief pause she adds, "I personally don't have a problem with anyone. But others seem to be having problems with me, and I don’t know why. Is it compulsory to be friends with your co-stars? After all we are just working together."

Proud of lineage

Unlike other newcomers with filmi background, Tanishaa is proud and comfortable talking about her lineage. She says, "My family is my identity. Even if I want to have my own standing in the industry, I will always be known as Tanuja's daughter, Kajol's sister, Ajay Devgan's sis-in-law, Rani's cousin and Nutan's niece.

And I am proud to have such a lineage." But despite such an impressive background and quite a few years in the industry, Tanishaa is yet to find a foothold for herself. To this she replies, "My career is now taking off. I have a meaty role to play in Ram Gopal Varma's sequel Sarkar 2, where I have been cast as Abhishek's wife. That’s all I will say as I am very superstitious when it comes to talking about my future projects."

Gelling with Abhishek

Ask her how was it working with Bachchan Junior for the second time, and she is all praise for him. "Abhishek is simply amazing. I had worked with him in Sarkar , and now we are once again working together after three years. I think he has matured as an actor. Though everybody says that he is a prankster, he was quite a gentleman on the sets of Sarkar 2 , " she says in her peppy style and immediately attributes this to Big B, "Probably, he was at his best because his father was present on the sets."

On relationships

Not so long ago, Tanishaa and Uday Chopra were romantically linked. There was a buzz that the two were about to tie the knot. Ask her to speak on this and all she says after a long pause is, “I just don't want to talk about the entire thing.” But it is obvious that her family is her biggest support system.

"I am very close to my mother Tanuja and sister Kajol, but I share a special bond with my brother-in-law Ajay Devgan and niece Nysa. My niece is my jaan and whenever I need any advice on my career or anything else, I just call up Ajay," she says.

Kim on virgin islands!

Before we get the adrenaline rushing, let us clarify what we mean by ‘virgin way’.

Apparently, actress Kim Sharma is headed to the Virgin Islands of the Philippines. And is packing her bags with all the beachwear that she can fit in. But this is no pleasure trip. The beach-girl is headed there for a shooting schedule of the film Loot. Supposed to be an action-packed flick, Kim still believes that she has enough and more to do in the film, and that the scope to perform is ample. “I’m not going to be just a show-piece,” she promises. Never mind show-piece or not, the junta wants to know more about the two-piece, Kimmie!

Amy Winehouse scoops four Grammys

British soul singer Amy Winehouse bagged the Song of the Year prize at the 50th annual Grammy Awards on Feb 10 in Los Angeles for her single "Rehab."
In addition, the troubled singer also won the best new artist, best pop vocal album for Back To Black and best female pop vocal awards, reports The Sun.
Winehouse, who was not at the ceremony to pick up the award personally, was originally due to perform live at the show but was denied a US visa last week.
By the time US authorities approved her visa on Feb 8, her publicist said it was too late for the 24-year-old singer to travel to Los Angeles.
Instead, the singer performed and made an acceptance speech by satellite.
Kanye West scooped four Grammy Awards for best rap song, best rap album, best rap solo performance and best rap performance by a duo or group.
The hip-hop star used his acceptance speech for best rap album to pay tribute to his mother Donda, who died in November.
Bruce Springsteen won three, while the White Stripes, Justin Timberlake, Carrie Underwood and Mary J Blige were among the acts who picked up two awards.
The show opened with a duet between Alicia Keys and footage of the late Frank Sinatra singing Learnin' the Blues.
Tina Turner returned to the stage for the first time in seven years to perform with Beyonce Knowles.

Desirable divas

We knew it, but a global online magazine seals it. Indian headturners Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mallika Sherawat and Padma Lakshmi are more than flashbulb celebs — they have been voted as the world’s most desirable women, outshining hotties Maria Sharapova and Lindsay Lohan in the rankings.

Based on online votes cast by five million readers, a list of 99 most desirable women of the year 2008 has been drawn up.

Bachchan bahu and the world’s most beautiful woman Aishwarya is at number 27 (and labelled the ‘most beautiful Bollywood heroine’), screen sizzler Mallika at number 67 has been described as the ‘most sultry Indian actress’, while Padma at 66 is rated as the ‘TV hostess with the mostest’.

You’d think, India’s hip and happening lot would actually be crowing about the reigning beauties. But not everyone feels the three divas deserve to be called ‘most desirable’ at a global level.

The global ratings of shortlisting the women were based on their intelligence, humour, charisma and ambition. What really makes a woman desirable, to men? We went asking for some answers and came out with surprises.

Actor Aman Varma doesn’t feel Aishwarya can fit in the “category of desirable women. Sure, Mallika deserves to be in the list and rightly so.” Anchor-actor Pooja Bedi believes, Ash’s close rival Sushmita Sen who has a “strong personality, is gorgeous, sexy and intelligent, is my definition of a desirable woman.”
Small screen’s funny man VJ Cyrus Sahukar thinks “classic Indian beauties like Sonam Kapoor define a really desirable woman.”

Fashion guru Raghavendra Rathore’s list of most desirable is fairly long. For him, women like “Preity Zinta who has an amazing quality of leadership, Bipasha Basu who epitomises self-confidence, Kareena Kapoor and Malaika Arora Khan with their mass appeal and Katrina Kaif who has classic good looks, are easily the best.”

And if you thought only woman from the glam fraternity should have been part of the list, Mayawati, Sania Mirza and Ashwini Nachappa also define beauty and sex appeal for some. Ad wiz Prahlad Kakar dismisses political superwomen “Uma Bharti and Mayawati as attractive oldies”, but chooses to nominate “Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor as absolute musts in any list of this sort.” Kakar feels, “Mayawati’s passion is the reason why she should be in this list. Even Sania Mirza and Ashwini Nachappa could be a part of such a list.”

While beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, it’s a heady feeling, when our women are voted the world’s most desired.

Superstars might star together

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan may just answer the prayers of millions of their fans. The superstars may feature together in a potboiler, which is a remake of the Tom Cruise starrer Jerry Maguire.

If sources are to be believed, the Khans cemented their plans at Amrita Arora’s birthday bash, held recently. The actors danced all night and even rambled about their filmy plans.

Interestingly, Salman’s younger brother Sohail Khan was seen pitching the project to a major film studio a few days back, and sources indicate that he has a ready, bound script of the Jerry Maguire remake.

Salman will essay the role of Cuba Gooding Junior (who won an Oscar for the Best Actor in a supporting role), and Sohail wants to cast Shah Rukh as the ambitious sports agent, originally played by Cruise.

Max is Aguilera’s real inspiration

Christina Aguilera’s newborn son Max has inspired her to write a new album.

The Dirrty singer — who gave birth to her first child Max Liron with husband Jordan Bratman on January 12 — says motherhood is taking her music in another direction.

She says, “I’m very excited! I’m so inspired at the moment. This whole incredible thing that’s taken place in my life, between the pregnancy and the birth. I’ve got so much in me to write about. This next record, I want to have a lot of fun with it. I’ve been brainstorming for the last nine months of my pregnancy. This next album will have a whole new me.

A different me.” About the baby’s bris — a traditional Jewish naming and circumcision ceremony — she adds, “I’m not Jewish, my husband is. I really had no idea about the bris. It was a very sweet experience. We had a lot of close friends come over and experience the bris with us. But we’re such a non-conventional couple!”

Sherlyn talks about her new butt

You have to give it to this girl. Whether it is creating furore at a gym by wearing revealing clothes, or making a hue and cry over her so-called morphed pictures on the internet, Sherlyn Chopra makes news every time. Now she has gone ahead and got a surgery done to get that JLo-like backside. NT brings you Sherlyn-- bold, brash and uncensored...

Bigger and better
The young lady doesn't believe in mincing words, when it comes to stating the facts. While many in her shoes would have hemmed and hawed or dithered-- Sherlyn Chopra comes straight to the point and says, "I was always curvy but I wanted to change the way my derriere looked. In fact I had told this to Prahlad Kakar during the shoot of my album but he told me not to ponder over such things. Somehow the thought stayed in my mind. And I am now proud to flaunt a JLo-like derriere."

Spending big bucks
One of the reasons for her enhancing her posterior is that her music video is now being released with some additional songs in the US and European markets and as Sherlyn puts it: "None of the Bollywood heroines have butts like Salma Hayek and JLo. Since I wanted to raise the bar and reach out to a bigger audience, I felt it was essential to have the right statistics. I spent around Rs 25 lakh and went in for a plastic surgery at a Hyderabad hospital, and now I am the proud owner of a perfect heart-shaped bum."

The male factor
Ask her if the whole exercise was aimed at titillating the 'poor men' some more and Sherlyn says with a throaty laugh, "Maybe! But one thing is for sure, the guys will actually wait for my new albums now. And they will soon be seeing me in a big banner comedy film, which will be announced in a few weeks' time."

Nanga-panga
While the lady is busy planning to floor the male fans with her brand new posterior, why does she keep having spats with the women? After all didn't she call Rakhi Sawant pagli after a stage show in Delhi recently? "Rakhi started it all when she called me ‘nangi’ just because I was wearing a brassiere along with tight leather trousers. The top was heavily embellished and it was looking quite classy on me. And who does she think she is? She wears such cheap outfits. Yeh toh wahi baat hui woh Karen toh chamatkar aur hum Karen to balatkar . I am using this lingo because Rakhi Sawant will understand it!"

When will Kareena talk?

Unlike earlier days when couples in Bollywood would hide their relationships fiercely, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are different.

The new ‘It’ couple seems to be pretty comfortable wearing their relationship on their sleeves and flaunting it to the fullest. So much so that chhote nawab, is going all out to prove his love to his beloved in every possible way. Tattooing her name, slitting his hand, waiting outside the venue while she attended a function, his kids’ growing fondness and publicly accompanying her to events, says a lot about cementing their relationship.

And Kareena is loving all the attention, silently and triumphantly. Have you ever thought why Saif is all out to tell the world of his love? According to people close to Kareena, she is happy that Saif is taking the initiative and isn’t hiding the relationship. Kareena isn’t really talking about the relationship. Her friends say that her family wouldn’t appreciate it if she spoke too much about it. Kareena is very happy with the way things are developing. So are we Bebo. Now that Saif has given the relationship a lot of respect by being open about it, will Kareena take it from here now?

Jessica’s scared of ghosts!

Jessica Alba was attacked by a ghost when she was 17, claims the The Eye star.

She says that she was visited by an otherworldly being, and was so frightened afterwards she refused to stay in her house. She recalled: "I had no idea what it was. I felt this pressure and I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t get off the bed, and then, once I did, I screamed, ran to my parents’ room! There was definitely something in my parents’ old house I don’t know what it was. But they got it blessed since then."

Jessica who is currently expecting her first child with fiancĂ© Cash Warren also revealed the pregnancy has been playing havoc with her hormones. "I think I’ve already thrown Cash out of the house twice since I’ve been pregnant. He's like, ‘Are you just pregnant? I hope you’re just pregnant and acting crazy,’ and I’m like, ‘It has nothing to do with that!’ And then we cry and we hug and he's like, ‘You’re pregnant, what do you want?’ You get so emotional and irrational."
